Ontario Superior Court Judge D.M. Brown said that the case of city officials and demonstrators at St. James Park is still at a status quo. He will examine the case and give final decision on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Demonstrators would like to convey their message about freedom of conscience, peaceful condition and expression where Trespass to Property Act is not according to their Charter rights. This incident happened in the park where Mayor Rob Ford asked city officials do not take any action to clear them.
Some of demonstrators even made tent city
to stay there until they get final decision. Also, they mulled a rally outside of City Hall at Wednesday evening. This incident has happened since Sept 17 where police swooped in on Occupy Wall Street. The protest became bigger when the police gave ultimatum that the demonstrators have to remove their tents immediately between 12.01 am – 5.30 a.m. During demonstrators used park, they have damaged the space and even interfered with winter maintenance.
Doug Holyday said that these actions must be done without hurting anyone since they do not want to arrest any demonstrators. He suggests that the demonstrators can move to Nathan Philips Square, so there is no broken equipment in the park because of these 500 protesters.
